Somato (body) Respiratory (breath) Integration™ (SRI), is all about reconnecting the body and breath. Sadly, we are often disconnected from our bodies and lose the ability to listen to and trust our intuition. Many people also develop shallow, inefficient breath patterns due to prolonged periods of stress. SRI helps to reestablishing the connection between the body and breath, in order to better support you in whatever phase you are in and help you to progress in your care. Donny Epstein developed this program, which works well in conjunction with NSA care to further the benefits of his technique, but also as a series of stand-alone exercises that can be practiced independently. This is unlike meditation or other breathing exercises. There are 12 stages, each with a unique exercise, that serve you in transcending different life experiences, working through areas that hold you back and emerging with new strategies. As Dr. Epstein states in his SRI workbook, "Through reconnecting you through breath, touch, focused movement and attention, you are able to experience your body more fully and instantly shift your state of consciousness to one that supports trust for your body-mind and life experience."
SRI may be seamlessly incorporated with NSA care during a visit, or you can schedule sessions to focus on this technique exclusively. There is also a recommended workbook that accompanies this program.
